It’s on its way!
New Season to be announced shortly
The Buxton Musical Society starts a new chapter in its 82 year history as we welcome Musical Director, Sam Hayes to his first complete season. Full details to appear here in the next few days
Founded in 1944, the Buxton Musical Society draws on the rich cultural life of the Buxton area to form a group of singers and players who regularly perform orchestral and choral works. Under the direction of Sam Hayes the Society performs five or six concerts per year at St John’s Church, Buxton.
No account of the Buxton Musical Society would be complete without recording the remarkable achievement of its former Musical Director and Conductor Emeritus, Michael Williams MBE. Michael took over the helm of the Society in 1967 and proceeded to raise standards in all aspects of its work. After 58 years leading the Society and directing 280 performances, he stepped down from the Directorship with a performance of Elgar’s The Apostles on 16 November 2025. See photo below.
