Buxton Musical Society — 80th Season
As we move into our 80th Season, Buxton Musical Society is proud to announce the appointment of its first Chorus Director. After 55 years of whipping us into shape, it’s time to give our Musical Director, Michael Williams MBE, a bit of assistance. Sam Hayes has joined the team to take over the preparation of the Society Chorus whilst Michael will continue to conduct the majority of our concerts.
Sam has been working in Cambridge for many years but luckily for us, has recently moved to the Midlands with his young family. With long experience of choral conducting behind him, he is already injecting a new dynamic into the Society Chorus. We look forward to exciting times ahead as we present this season’s programme:

Christmas Past and Presents!
Join us for the Buxton Musical Society’s annual celebration of Christmas music.
This year we look to Christmas past as we perform Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, based on a collection of poems in Middle English, Latin and Early Modern English. In the second half, we celebrate Christmas present and are joined by young choristers from Fairfield Endowed Junior School to sing many Christmas favourites. There are rumours that a special Christmas guest may also make an appearance.
