A Baroque celebration of the coronation of our new king<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Following last year’s successful performance of Haydn’s The Creation<\/em> as part of the Buxton International Festival, we invite guest singers to join us to sing all four Handel Coronation Anthems<\/em> in a day!
The evening performance will consist of the four Coronation Anthems<\/em> written by Handel for the Coronation of George II plus the Bach Double Violin Concerto<\/em> to be played by Steve Wilkie, leader of our orchestra, and one of his star pupils. To complete the evening, Georgie Malcolm<\/a>, who sang in last year\u2019s The Creation <\/em>will perform Bach\u2019s Cantata 51, Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen<\/em>, for solo soprano and trumpet obligato.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Guest singers are expected to be very familiar with the music beforehand in order to make the most of working with chorus director Jack Apperley<\/a> who will be applying the polish for a public performance of high quality. Jack has been looking forward to returning to Buxton and we in turn, will welcome his injection of humour, enthusiasm and musical insight.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Participating singers are entitled to purchase up to 2 tickets at the reduced price of \u00a310 for family and friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The format of the day will be the same as last year:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.30 \u2013 3.45      Rehearsal with orchestra<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Application for Singing Place in Buxton Musical Society Handel Coronationfest <\/div>
If you wish to apply for a singing place in the Buxton Musical Society performance of Handel's Coronation Anthems <\/em>on 16 September 2023, please fill in your details below. Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate all applications, limitations of chorus seating at the venue and the need to maintain a balanced choir may prevent us from doing so. Where there is an excess of applications for the available places in a particular voice part, consideration will be given to the applicant's previous singing experience and familiarity with the work.All applicants will be informed via email whether they have been successful and if so, payment details will be sent at that stage.
