Sing it in a Day - Duruflé Requiem

Saturday 8 June 2019  9.30am – 5.30pm
St John's Church, Buxton

After last season’s hugely successful preparation and performance of the Mozart Requiem in a day, we were absolutely delighted to have secured the services of the Hallé Choir’s Director, Matthew Hamilton, to lead us through the Duruflé Requiem for our second Sing it in a Day. About 60 singers from as far afield as Kendal took part in the rehearsal sessions in the morning and afternoon followed by a late afternoon performance of the work in its arrangement for Organ and 'cello.

Darius Battiwalla, Leeds City Organist and frequent performer with the Hallé and BBC Philharmonic Orchestras, amongst many others, accompanied the rehearsals and performance with soloists Frances Brindley (soprano), John Parsons ('Cello) and Andrew Parker (baritone).

Matthew Hamilton led lively, informative and very rewarding rehearsals and drew the very best from our collection of singers.

Look out on the website for future events of this kind next year.
